Company: Dipl.-Ing. Johan Grope

Dipl.-Ing. Johan Grope studied mechanical engineering with a specialisation in Energy Engineering at the Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg. As an intern and graduate student at GIZ in Brazil, he was working intensely with the production of biogas. Between 2010 and 2012, he was research associate at the German centre for bioenergy research (Deutsches Biomasseforschungszentrum gGmbH, DBFZ). There, he coordinated and carried out various research and consulting projects mainly focused on biogas upgrading and its injection into the natural gas grid as well as energy supply based on biomethane. Most recently, he was consultant in the department "International Know-How Transfer" at the Berlin Energy Agency (Berliner Energieagentur GmbH).

In addition to his language skills he gained extensive experience of the energy policy framework in Chile, Brazil and Mexico through several month stays in these countries. He is well known in a large network in the biomethane industry.
