Professor Dr.-Ing. Frank Scholwin is an environmental engineer who obtained his doctorate in biological waste treatment at the University of Rostock and the Bauhaus University in Weimar. Between 2003 and 2010 he conducted and coordinated biogas research and consulting activities at the German centre for bioenergy research (Deutsches Biomasseforschungszentrum gGmbH; until 2008: Institut für Energetik und Umwelt gGmbH). In 2011 and 2012 he was that organisation’s Scientific Director. Since 2008 he has been Honorary Professor of Biogas/Bioenergy at the University of Rostock.
He is enthusiastically committed to devising and realising research and consultancy projects incorporating the linked and sometimes conflicted fields of biogas technology, energy management, agriculture and waste management. This has already resulted in large numbers of projects providing consulting services to plant operators, power supply utilities, financial institutions, professional bodies and government agencies, enabling Professor Scholwin to acquire an expert and up-to-date understanding of the organisational, technical and economic needs and concerns of that client base.
