IBKE is Now a Cooperative!
Corporate Restructuring
Dr. Frank Scholwin has decided, in close cooperation with his employees, to transfer the long-standing Institute for Biogas, Circular Economy & Energy to a company managed by the employees.
Since 1 January 2026, the Institute for Biogas, Circular Economy and Energy is a registered cooperative. Frank Scholwin is a member of the board and will remain with the company as a consultant. An intensive process lasting several years to build, design and transform the company now allows us to look ahead and take the first steps together as a cooperative.
To date, we have succeeded in building a renowned company with 12 dedicated employees – with ups and downs, but always optimistic and hopeful. In the meantime, a whole series of biogas plants have been further developed and converted with our help. We have developed and calculated concepts for more than 150 biogas plants for a future after the expiry of the German EEG remuneration. We are currently supporting around 30 biogas plants in their transition from electricity to biomethane production, some of them as biogas clusters. We have also expanded our GHG balancing team to three people, who calculate GHG balances for certification purposes for a large share of German biomethane plants.
We continue to offer our services and remain available to all existing and future customers with our expertise.
We look forward to continuing our collaboration with you!
