Presentation on Biogas Basics - a Youtube series
Jürgen Kube publishes his extensive experiences with biogas in a compact, but thorough video series.
In August 2000, Jürgen Kube operated his first biogas reactor in a laboratory, using it to ferment food waste from a market in Tunis. After graduating as a process engineer, he went on to earn a doctorate in biogas process engineering, specializing in bacterial cultivation. He then worked for a biogas start-up, spent nine years at a technology provider, and nine years at a project developer and plant operator.
Planning a biogas plant correctly requires a broad range of knowledge. This includes process engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, agricultural sciences, fluid mechanics, chemistry, biology, thermodynamics, and many other disciplines.
Jürgen Kube decided to make his knowledge public in the hope of creating a free and easily accessible biogas canon.
Here are the planned topics:
01 Biogas myths
02 The stoichiometry of the biogas process, Buswell and more
03 Raw material selection and interchangeability
04 Mass balance of a biogas plant (3 parts)
05 Heat balance of a biogas plant
06 Microbial growth in a biogas plant (5 parts)
07 The ADM1 model
08 Arguments against flow reactors, the effects of recirculation and dispersion
Video 02: The Stoichiometry of the Biogas Process
Video 03: Feedstock Selection and Their Interchangeability
